Newsletter March 2003

Hello and welcome to the first edition of the dolphin aid Australia Newsletter.

First of all I would like to thank all of you, who have helped in the last 3 month to get dolphin aid started - THANKS MUCH!

The Kent Law Firm did all the legal stuff to set up the charity - lots of work - little fun.
Thanks Michael and your team!

Kiki Kuhnert - our honorary president (and founder) came all the
way from Florida to launch dolphin aid in Australia. Her dedication to the project
and the convincing way she spoke about dolphin aid amazed all of those she spoke to.
Thanks Kiki - good to hear Timmy is well!

The first English version of Kirsten`s book is available now and many people get back
to us with beautyful testimonials. It is a great gift for your friends.

Thanks to MediaSuccess - a Sydney based PR company, we got lots of
TV and Radio interviews. Lynelle, Sally and the whole team did a incredible job
AND they did it at NO COST - thanks again for that.

Due to the publicity, we got lots and lots of inquieries about the dolphin human therapy program. Many mum´s and dad´s of special needs children contacted us for information and support. We could give most of them a good insight in what to do and where to go.

For most of the Australian families it will only be possible o go to Florida when dolphin aid can pay for the trip. For now, we have joined forces (and support) Carla Henco and Olivia de Bergerac. Carla runs the Dolphin Therapy in Bunbury and Olivia runs Dolphin Society in Sydney. Both offer "swim with dolphins" encounters and are a very reliable and important partner to us.

HOWEVER - our aim is to set up a comprehensive Dolphin Human Therapy center in Australia. For that we need all of you as helpers AND a lot of funds.

Unfortunately we did not get much donations - so please please help us to get some sponsors so we can support Australian children and their families in experiencing the dolphin human therapy.

What can you do to help?

  1. Tell your friends and colleagues about dolphin aid and start you own initiative to raise funds.
  2. Talk about "Every Day a Little Miracle" as an inspirational book. Most of the money dolphin aid Australia spent so far came from the book
  3. Convince your local TV, Radio and Newspapers that they should take up a foster child and report about "the journey" - from fundraising all the way to Florida and back home. They and you can raise $ 20.000 very easy
  4. Think of potential sponsors - companies, clubs, wealthy individuals - who would want to support dolphin aid - and the children
  5. Think of someone REALLY well known - you know personally - a celebrity - and talk to them about becoming an ambassador for dolphin aid. Again, giving them a copy of the book helps a lot.
  6. If you can do non of the above - send us some money and you are excused ;-))

So you see, lots of things happened and we are still at the very beginning

Hope to hear from all of you soon

keep well

Silvia & Christian Uhrig
